Shona qualified from Edinburgh University in 2000. She went on to do her GP training and gained her membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners with distinction in 2004. After taking some time to work abroad in a rural hospital in New Zealand, she then returned to General Practice in Edinburgh.

Shona also works as a speciality Doctor at Chalmers, the Sexual Health Clinic. This makes her one of the Lothians most experienced General Practitioners in Women’s Health. She has held letters of competency in fitting implants and coils for 20 and 15 years respectively, currently fitting approximately 400 coils per year. She is also able to do complex “lost thread” coil removals and complex insertions, and is involved in training other Doctors on coil fitting. She also does NHS general practice work and out of hours care.

Outside of work she enjoys being outdoors, keeping fit and being a mum to two teenagers.
