The Six Nations Championship is one of the most exciting times in the rugby calendar. Watching teams like Scotland and France clash on the pitch brings drama, big tackles, and plenty of reasons to cheer.
It’s also a great reminder of how powerful sport and exercise can be. Staying active boosts fitness, strengthens muscles, and does wonders for mood and energy levels.
That said, rugby also reminds us that our bodies aren’t indestructible. All sport can come with injuries, strains, and the occasional grumble from the knees or shoulders. Over time, repeated stress on joints can even contribute to conditions like Osteoarthritis.
At Edinburgh GP we have clinicians like Dr Robertson and Dr Miller who have worked with all types of athlete from elite rugby players, weekend warriors and the occasional park runners. They are experienced in many aspects of physical performance and management of injuries.
So enjoy the rugby, stay active, and look after your joints. Not everyone needs to tackle like a prop forward to get the benefits of exercise!
